Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities

About Basic Sciences & Humanities :-

The Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities at AITS Udaipur serves as the bedrock of engineering education, laying a strong foundation for all aspiring engineers. We cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the profession by integrating universally applicable subjects like English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Environmental Sciences.

To ensure a seamless transition into specialized engineering domains, our department offers targeted bridge courses in Chemistry, English, Mathematics, and Physics. We’re dedicated to helping our novice engineering aspirants adjust from their 10+2 academic background to the dynamic study environment of an undergraduate Engineering and Technology course.

Our accomplished faculty members are deeply committed to their ongoing professional and intellectual development. They actively participate in seminars, conferences, workshops, and training programs across diverse disciplines, often collaborating with scientific bodies. A key focus for our faculty is to orient students toward applying their knowledge to real-world situations, bridging the gap between theory and practical application.

A cornerstone of our engineering education is the effective extraction and dissemination of vital information. We place special emphasis on enhancing communication skills in English, recognizing its crucial role in an engineer’s success. The department boasts a team of highly qualified faculty organized into four distinct units: Chemistry, English, Mathematics, and Physics. Beyond academics, we foster creativity and holistic development through our engagement with various impactful clubs, including the Eco Friends Club, Science & Technology Club, Spiritual Club, Toastmasters Club, Docu-Drama Club, and many more.

DEPARTMENT VISION

To create knowledge based society with scientific temper through cutting-edge technologies, innovative research and to become valuable resource for enriching mankind.

DEPARTMENT MISSION

  • To provide an environment that will allow students and faculty members to be skilled in creation and implementation of new ideas.
  • To provide platform to improve questioning, observing, testing, analysing and communication skills.
  • To provide qualitative education and generate new knowledge with integration of emerging technologies and research.
  • To practice and promote high standard of potential ethics, transparency and accountability.

OUTCOME-BASED EDUCATION (OBE)

Outcome-Based Education (OBE) is a student-centric teaching and learning methodology in which the course delivery and assessment are planned to achieve stated objectives and outcomes. It focuses on measuring student performance i.e. outcomes at different levels.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POs)

Program Outcomes (POs): POs are statements that describe what students are expected to know and be able to do upon graduating from the program. These relate to the skills, knowledge, analytical ability attitude and behavior that students acquire through the program. The POs essentially indicate what the students can do from subject-wise knowledge acquired by them during the program. As such, POs define the professional profile of an engineering diploma graduate. Following 12 POs are defined for an Engineering graduate:

PO1 ENGINEERING KNOWLEDGE: An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO2 PROBLEM ANALYSIS: Ability to analyze and interpret data by designing and conducting experiments.

PO3 DESIGN/ DEVELOPMENT OF SOLUTION: An ability to Design a system component or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, political, health and safety, manufacturability and sustainability.

PO4 CONDUCTION OF INVESTIGATION OF COMPLEX PROBLEMS: An ability to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems and capable to visualize and work on laboratory and multidisciplinary tasks.

PO5 MODERN TOOL USAGE: An ability to use the techniques, skills, software, equipment and modern engineering tools to analyze problems which are necessary for engineering practice.

PO6 THE ENGINEERING AND SOCIETY: Broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental and societal context and prepare students who can participate and succeed in competitive examinations.

PO7 ENVIRONMENT & SUSTAINABILITY: Understand the impact of professional engineering solution in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need of sustainable development.

PO8 ETHICS: An ability to understand the professional, social and ethical responsibility.

PO9 INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM WORK: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

PO10 COMMUNICATION: An ability to Communicate effectively in order to succeed in their profession such as, being able to write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations.

PO11 PROJECT MANAGEMENT & FINANCE: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environment.

PO12 LIFE-LONG LEARNING: confidence for self-education and ability for life-long learning in students.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOS):

PSO1: Ability to challenge the start of an accessible business and address the complex technical issues identified in designing, heat, and creating related businesses with the target device.

PSO2: Ability to directly analyze and recover actual situations relate.

PSO3: The ability to intelligently incorporate information received both verbal and compound.

Program Educational Outcome (PEOS):
